The Town of Assiniboia has established a rebate program for the local purchase of Rain Barrels and Compost bins in an effort to recognize residents' efforts towards reducing water consumption and reducing organic waste material. The reduction of water and organic material will aid in the reduction of pressure on the Assiniboia Water Treatment Plant and the Assiniboia Landfill. 

Households are eligible for one compost bin and one rain barrel rebate per year up to $100.00 per barrel/bin. To receive the rebate, residents must install the rain barrel and/or compost bin at the residence associated with their utility account. 

Rebates will be administered by the Town of Assiniboia and will be sent by cheque to the applicant based on the application requirements. Please make sure rebate application are accurate to ensure you get the funds!  

This rebate program offer is available to residents of Assiniboia who: 

    • Have a utility account in their name which is in good standing.
    • Purchase a rain barrel and/or compost bin from a local retailer.
    • Install the compost bin and/or rain barrel at the residence associated with their utility account. 

COMPOST BIN REBATES:

Compost bin rebates are up to $100.00.  Compost bins must be purchased from a local retailer with a business license who can issue an official receipt. This rebate does not apply to kitchen compost pails. 

    1.  If you have purchased a ready-made home compost bin from a local retailer, please include a copy of your receipt. 
    2.  If you have purchased supplies to build your own home compost bin, please include a copy of your receipt as well as 'before' photos of the supplies and an 'after' photo of the finished bin. 

 

RAIN BARREL REBATE:

 

Rain Barrel rebates are up to $100.00.  Rain Barrels must be purchased from a local retailer with a business license who can issue an official receipt. 

    1.  If you have purchased a ready-made rain barrel from a local retailer, please include a copy of your receipt. 
    2.  If you have purchased supplies to build your own rain barrel, please include a copy of your receipt as well as 'before' photos of the supplies and an 'after' photo of the finished barrel.

        • a receipt from a local retailer
        • a photograph of the compost bin and/or rain barrel installed in place 

We recommend you make a copy of your completed application form and receipts for your own records, as all information provided will not be returned.
