Handi Van

The Town of Assiniboia is proud to offer a community Handi Van to help residents stay connected, supported, and on the move. Our accessible vehicle makes it easier for loved ones to get to appointments, outings, and activities—safely and comfortably within a 15 km range of Assiniboia.

Over the past few years, the way our Handi Van is used has evolved. Today, families and caregivers volunteer to drive their own loved ones, creating a flexible, personal, and community‑driven service. We no longer maintain a general volunteer driver list, but we welcome individuals who wish to drive for their family member or friend.

🧡 Want to Drive a Loved One?

Residents who wish to volunteer as a driver simply need to:

  • Provide a drivers abstract 

  • Be added to our Handi Van Autoinsurance policy

  • Complete a short vehicle orientation with our Public Works team

Once approved, you’ll be ready to help your loved one travel with ease.
