The Town has placed a bin to collect dropped off compost by the entrance of the Compost Site located on Leeville Street North (717 Grid)
This bin for compost is accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It is the intention to continue to have the compost site gate locked to ensure we do not have dumping of garbage which has been a past problem when the gate was left open.
We thank those citizens who are choosing to bring their grass, leaves, fruit/vegetable waste and garden waste to the site. PLEASE NO WEEDS.
DUTCH ELM
The Permittee shall dispose of Dutch Elm diseased trees at the waste disposal ground according to section 10(1)(a)(ii) of The Dutch Elm Disease Regulations, 2005.
We’d like to remind you that pruning elm trees is prohibited from April 1 to August 31 under provincial regulation. This prohibition helps us minimize the risk of spreading the disease. Thanks your help.
You can also help by not bringing firewood back from ANYWHERE into Assiniboia. You may have existing piles of firewood in your yard and not know that the wood is carrying the disease. If you are uncertain that the wood you have is elm, which may be infected, call 306-642-5008 and we may help you.
