Assiniboia Minor Ball Registration

 Important Information for 2020 Season

New season, new look! AMBA is ordering new uniforms this year. We will inform all players born 2011 and earlier when uniforms can be picked up (with deposit cheques) when the uniforms have arrived.

Player Development: We will be hosting a baseball clinic on Saturday, May 2  (working on setting up a softball clinic).  Sowden is doing 90 min session per group for players in 11U-18U. We will host it at the fairgrounds. There may be a small fee for this clinic; please indicate interest when you register online.

Fundraising Commitment: This year each family will receive a book of 50/50 tickets.  There will be 10 tickets priced at $5 each.  You will pay for this upon receiving the ticket book and have the option to put your name on all tickets OR sell them to other friends/family members.  The ticket books will be handed out to the youngest player in the family once coaches have been determined and teams divided up.

Kidsport Funding is available for those who may require and qualify for financial aid for registration.  Please inquire with AMBA or go to web site to register. http://www.kidsportcanada.ca/ if necessary.

Additional Important Information:

  1.   When registering online please pay careful attention to which child you are registering and ensure that you are registering in the correct category!  Baseball or Softball/Co-ed!  We are using RAMP to register both this year so avoid confusion by checking the title at the top of the registration page!!!!
  2.  Uniform sizing and Registration: March 18, 2020 at Assiniboia Composite High School 4:30-8:30pm
  3. Please note that there is an additional fee of $25 for registrations after March 18.
  4. Also note that March 31 is the deadline to register.  After that, there is no guarantee that we can accept additional players.
  5. Uniform deposits of $100 per player (separate post-dated cheques per player) are required for all but the Tykes, Pre-Rally Cap and Rally Cap.  This will happen at a TBD date.
  6. For safety and hygiene reasons we advise all players to purchase their own batting helmet.  It is wise to purchase the face mask at the same time.  It is mandatory in most softball and some baseball leagues.
  7.       When teams are made, coaches will contact you regarding practice times and days.
  8.        The ball typically flies off an aluminum bat at a much higher rate of speed than a wooden bat.  For player safety, baseball is generally moving away from the use of aluminum bats.  It is already mandatory for certain leagues and some provincial playoffs.  As Sask. Baseball moves to wooden bats only, AMBA will not be providing wooden bats for players.  Please be prepared for that. AMBA does not require this at this time.
  9. Each player born in  2011 and earlier are required to buy their own WHITE ball pants. Western Cycle in Regina is giving  15% off when you purchase there.

Western Cycle Source for Sports 1550 8th Avenue Regina, SK  (306) 522 5678

  1. Funding: Kidsport is a program that will help with the cost if needed by families. Please go to web site to register. http://www.kidsportcanada.ca/

Assiniboia Minor Ball Executive sincerely thanks Saskatchewan Lotteries for their support of minor ball.

Important!

The success of Assiniboia Minor Ball depends on family participation.  Our organization is built on the commitment and dedication of volunteers.  Please consider one of the following areas to help out with and indicate your willingness to help when you register online.

We tend to have our largest numbers of players at the rally cap and pre-rally cap ages.  These young players need a small coach to player ratio (ideally 1:9 or 10) so that they enjoy the experience.

Please give serious consideration to helping coach even if you have no prior experience with ball.  Having fun and learning a few basic skills is what the game is about at this age!  AMBA will direct you to coaching clinics and have Learn to Play manuals with drills and games for the new or experienced coach.
