






Prince of Wales Cultural and Recreation Centre
The Prince of Wales Cultural and Recreation Centre built in 2002 through the extensive fund-raising completed by the Assiniboia Civic Improvement Association.
The building has been operated under the authority of the Civic Improvement Association since 2002. In 2012, the last of the depenture associated with the facility was paid by the Civic Improvement Association. The facility is expected to be transferred in ownership from the Civic Improvement Association to the Red Coat Agricultural Society in the Fall of 2012. The management of the facility is performed by the POW Management Board.
The Town of Assiniboia is a vested partner in the facility. Beginning in 2012, the facility falls under the responsibility of the Department of Parks, Recreation & Culture with the operating deficits annually assumed by the municipality.
The Prince of Wales Cultural and Recreation Centre is located at 201 3rd Avenue West accross from the Town Office.
FACTS
The 62,000 sq. ft. facility includes:
Olympia Theatre (2,235 s ft.), curling arena (23,400 sq. ft.), performing arts centre and gymnasium (8,427 sq. ft.), Public Library (5,267 sq. ft.), Regional College (5,000 sq. ft.), fitness centre (5,000 sq. ft.), public meeting rooms (3,000 sq. ft.), and kitchen facilities, washrooms, common areas and unsigned areas (14,671 sq. ft.).
It is estimated that between all operating of the facility, approximately 50,000 people access the facility on an annual basis and of those 5,000 are paid patrons of Olympia Theatre.

OLYMPIA THEATRE
Olympia Theatre features a sloped seating for 150 persons, a stage, curtains, sound system and good acoustics for other small events. The theatre can be booked for lectures or arts events when no movies are scheduled. To see what is playing at the movies call 642-flik, or 642-3545. ASSINIBOIA CURLING CLUB
The Prince of Wales Cultural and Recreation Centre is home to the Assiniboia Curling Club. The curling club is a very spacious four sheet facility which opened in November 2001.
It comes with enough seating for approximately one thousand viewers. There is seating along sheet one for approximately seven hundred spectators, while the main level lobby and lounge make room for another 300 viewers.
The Assiniboia Curling Club is a registered member of the Saskatchewan Curling Association
The present Assiniboia Curling Club was very proud to host the following events.
The lounge is located in the upper level of our curling club. There is excellent viewing for approximately 150 spectators. There is no problem seeing all curling action from anywhere behind the glass. The lounge also provides a billiards table, a shuffleboard table, and a big screen television for entertainment purposes following a game of curling.

ASSINIBOIA & DISTRICT PUBLIC LIBRARY
The Palliser Regional library (Assiniboia Branch) and is located in the Prince of Wales Cultural and Recreation Centre. The library occupies 5000 sq. ft. of the complex, on the south east corner.
The new library has space for:
Study areas for students
Computer area
Significantly expanded office space to provide adequate work room for staff
Kay Cristo Program Room & Art Gallery, measuring 1000 sq. ft.
Increased shelving area
Wheelchair accessibility within the library
Increased storage space.

Southeast Regional College was originally established in 1975 as the South East Region Community College; part of a new college system in Saskatchewan. Following the proclamation of the Regional Colleges Act in 1987, South East Region Community College was renamed Southeast Regional College.
