Assiniboia is located in South Central Saskatchewan approximately 105 km south of the city of Moose Jaw and 72 km north of the International Boundary. Assiniboia is within two hours of most major centres in the province. The town is served by Highways 2 (north/south) and 13 (east/west).

Assiniboia serves primarily an agriculturally based trading area in any direction. Commercial development in Assiniboia has been exceptionally strong in the last three decades. Assiniboia is a small town with character, with a wide main street offering a wide variety of shops and stops. Residential areas are also well maintained and well treed. Assiniboia is a beautiful town in any season with activity all year long.
